In our Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 classes the curriculum is suited to accommodate for our diverse student body while incorporating the internationally recognised academic expectations set out by the Cambridge curriculum. Our core subjects of maths, English and science are guided by Cambridge, whereas our other subjects uniquely combine the Cambridge curriculum and the ESD curriculum, with aspects relevant to living abroad and taking care of oneself and the environment.
LIS is unique as it not only offers a rigorous academic program with emphasis in core subject areas such as English, maths, science, humanities and the arts, but also focuses largely in Education for Sustainable Development.
At LIS we believe it is important to acquire the fundamentals of learning while also keeping up to date with education relevant to the world we are currently living in. We encourage our students to apply the knowledge they acquire through the education they are receiving to impact the world in a positive way.
LIS is a close-knit family that puts students on the path to become effective communicators, critical thinkers, independent learners and influential global citizens.
Safety is of utmost importance, and all students are encouraged to practice good safety habits. Safety instruction is given at school and safety measures are practiced in the buildings and on the playground.
Personal identification should be available at all times when on the LIS property to pick up children.
The security guards will supervise the safety of the students, the school and its environment on a 24-hour basis. The administration, principal, staff, faculty and maintenance people will be in charge of the observance of safety regulations. The teachers will supervise the safety of each child in their classrooms.
Should an emergency arise, transportation to a hospital is readily available. Parents will be notified immediately about student health matters.
School personnel are not allowed to prescribe medication for students, and they may only administer medicines prescribed by a physician if the students bring a signed note from parents with the name of the medication and dosage. The school nurse may only give Paracetamol for minor headaches and to reduce fever while a student is waiting to be picked up.
We strongly recommend that if your child is sick with, but not limited to, the flu, a fever, excessive cough or other such illness, that you keep him or her at home on that day, and contact the school so that they are aware of the absence.
If a child is diagnosed by the nurse with a communicable disease such as Hand Foot Mouth, Influenza, or head lice, parents will be contacted immediately and the student will be required to stay at home until he or she is fully recovered. A medical certificate will be required in order for the student to return to school.
Applications for September admission should be completed 2 months before the expected start date of the upcoming academic school year. Mid-year applications by families coming to Thailand from overseas may be submitted at any time throughout the school year. In all cases we encourage families to visit our school, if possible, before submitting an application. This gives us a chance to meet with you, answer your specific questions and give you a personal school tour.
